Matt Halvorson is a writer, musician, activist and father, among other things. He writes and manages a blog about equity in education called Rise Up for Students, and he spent time in Ferguson supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and in Standing Rock opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline. A veteran of the Big Ideas and the Fargo South High School Symphonic Band, Matt’s solo music tends to be an exploration of identity shout-sung over a piano. He founded and continues to manage the Rise Up Music Project with love. His debut album, “Sermons,” is due out momentarily.
