5/12/25: "This is Not How I Thought This Would End," by Cape Disappointment

Cape Disappointment is the moniker for Seattle-based songwriter, Jeffrey P. Martin. He writes “raw, honest, stripped-down” songs about places, loss, love, and life. He’s been playing all over the country for more than a decade. Everywhere from New York to Seattle. He is releasing a new song on the 12th of every month this year, and his song for today is called “This is Not How I Thought This Would End”

You won’t see me anymore

I won’t come back to your door

again

There’s someone in your bed

but I’m at home instead

of there

This is not

how I thought

this would end

Please don’t call here any more

I’m stuck on the floor on

the floor

This is my last my last goodbye

You won’t hear me when I cry

at night

you may sing this melody

you’ll sing but I’ll be free

of this
